Information Week said it best:
““The deal on its own merits is a game changer, but in healthcare we can use the mobile environment to reach the consumer, the patient, the member — and back into the enterprise,” said Dan Pelino, general manager of IBM’s business with the public sector, including health systems.”
So we’re left with consumer centric Apple who have never played well with others and IBM who failed to see the value of consumer computing when they packed up the PC group at Armonk and banished them to Boca Raton Florida. The rest of those stories may be worked out in the 2014 IBM/Apple partnership, by the acquisition of nimble start-ups (which is my bet) or by smarter people from the likes of Google or Samsung.
