The merger of two Huge ideas and computing “trends”, the Cloud and Big Data.  The information and data explosions predicted more than twenty years ago have come to pass.  And we are in the middle of it.

If you are a consumer you are faced with data “clutter” all around you.  Shelves of books that you may never read again.  Tapes, CDs, DVDs, thumb drives, and spinning storage devices inside your desktops and laptops.  And now the opportunity – for a small fee – to transfer all that into the Cloud and clean up your surroundings.

If you’re also in a business with Big Data needs and decisions, you are in the middle of making choices to let go of control, trust unseen third-party vendors, and move some or all of it into the Cloud.

And then there’s “Do Not Track” and the schizophrenic implications of wanting access and speed to all the “right” information quickly AND then, perhaps, really caring about your privacy.

Interesting times, these.

AND DON’T FORGET LITTLE DATA
