The debate over privacy does not begin and end with the recent battle between the FBI and Apple over unlocking an iPhone. The major carriers of the data in smartphones and other devices are also very involved in government access to information.
It would seem that all parties to the Internet “supply chain”, users, carriers, device manufacturers, content providers, social media networks, share the responsibility for their mutual well-being. The Internet Bill of Rights published a few years ago opened the dialog for the privacy, mutual respect, and well-being conversation. It needs to continue, actively.
