“The headlong march towards the cloud has made the prototypical datacenter a thing of the past, or at least has caused a significant evolution in its essential characteristics. Applications and data are now distributed around multiple datacenters, possibly even globally, and possibly in locations that you might not even be aware of. But this is a good thing, because cloud services have enabled a level of business agility that your predecessors might only have dreamed about. As a result, most organizations today are leveraging the cloud services model in some way. They are adopting infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), such as the Azure cloud or Amazon Web Services, platform-as-a-service (PaaS) on a force.com platform, for example, or software-as-a-service (SaaS), such as Salesforce.com, Workday or Google Apps.”
The Cloud has changed the conversation about security and identity management. The question now is where it will lead.
