I guess there are some new seers – of the development of the “space” and the volatile future of social media.  If it were so easy to predict, folks like Rupert Murdoch – for instance – would already have paved the way for huge profits.  But I think it may be more like the transcontinental railroad.  Reality was whatever was at the end of the line – like Utah.  We all know that there’s stuff in Utah but it isn’t the end of the world, after all.  And San Francisco isn’t either.  But transportation metaphors don’t really cut it either.

We are in uncharted territory and I’m skeptical about seers these days.  To me they’re more like bankers and stock brokers, and those folks have really let us down.
