I’ve been a Microsoft watcher (an user much of the time) for more than 35 years.  For much of that time I have been discouraged by their arrogance, greed, and lack of touch with reality.  Now that they are falling from grace – as most large corporations have done in the past 50 years – they seem to have found some humility and a curious desire to play better with others.  We’ll see.

But their recent promotion of Satya Nadella to president and a catch-up strategy in the mobile world, they seem to want to cooperate, especially with the open source world.  Again we’ll see.  But the signs are encouraging.
