I don’t know about you, but being remarketed or retargeted doesn’t give me warm fuzzy feelings, especially in a democracy.
We all understand that the purpose of marketing is to build markets – that is identifying potential customers – targets. And i don’t mind any of this as long as it is going on in that background.
But honestly, this consumer and technology pro has become less friendly to Amazon, for instance, because they continue to assume – with their targeting – that because I purchased an instructional banjo book – I will purchase more of them as well as a host of other banjo stuff.
Yes, I understand both the logic and purpose of this marketing approach, but for some of us – unless I am terribly unique – a little might be too much.
And the term “creepy” is also used in the tips contained in the following link post. Creepy!
