“Native is one of the hottest topics in digital media, and advertisers and publishers are taking notice.”
Native, meaning ads that look like they are part of a website or news resource. The ones where you have to read the fine print (if there is any) to determine whether or not you are being marketed.
Does it matter? That depends upon whether or not you appreciate being a target. The best example I can think of is “SCREAMING FIRE in a crowded hall”. Of course everyone takes note and bolts for the door. The screamer is guilty of a crime. In the case of Native Advertising, you -and others browsing the site – are the unwitting victims. It remains to be seen whether Internet users will continue to tolerate – or visit – sites which do it.
