Specifically, this post and link are a wake-up call for all of you who “expect” your cloud service provider to have reliable battery backup, working generators, and a good supply of fuel for them.
Obviously few if any of these centers could perform under the storm conditions. Nothing personal. But effective cloud services have multiple different geographical locations, provide rapid fail-over, and can stay-up in the worst case. Business continuity is a requirement, not an option for companies that can’t afford to be down at all.
